Nitrous oxide is the lightest sedation we offer and the most widely used. You breathe a mix of nitrous oxide and oxygen through a small nose piece, and within a few minutes you feel relaxed, slightly floaty, and much less bothered by what is going on.
You stay fully awake and able to talk to us throughout, and we can adjust the level up or down during the appointment. It works well for adults and children alike.
Its great advantage is how quickly it clears: a few minutes of pure oxygen at the end and the effect is gone. There is no lingering grogginess, no fasting beforehand, and no need for someone to drive you home.
